If a recurring donation fails due to a problem with the credit card, (ex: lack of funds or an expired card), Donorbox will automatically retry the donation charge days after the initial donation attempt. If unsuccessful, it will try again 2 days after the last attempt. After three attempts, any attempt to charge the card will cease. For example, if a donation charged on the 10th of the month fails, Donorbox will retry the donation on the 12th and the 14th.


From the initial donation attempt, there is a 10-day period where the donor will be able to update their card. If they update the card during this time, the invoice will be charged automatically. If the card is updated after this period, Donorbox will charge the card again the following month on the initial donation date (in the case of the example above, the 24th).
